Even Though It May Not Last 縱使不再

Original Bilingual Poetry 原創雙語詩 by Robin Chan 陳浩輝

The world turned into a different realm
The moment our paths crossed and joined
Frozen hands found warmth
Dried hearts sang the sweetest song
“Luck” in its broadest sense will still fall short
Rejoiced at the serendipity I just played on
Saving the distant reality for long as it held
So arms have stretched miles long
To hold those double shadows under every precious sunset
Eyes so reluctant to blink
lest the most charming smile missed
As for the ever-strong embrace
Certainly you must have figured by now
I would walk the same walk
If the clock somehow rewound
Even though it may not last
Even though it did not last

Even Though It May Not Last

Even Though It May Not Last

Turns and Swamps

Turns and Swamps

Turns and Swamps

Turns and Swamps

Turn left, turn right, go ahead

How many turns I took I did not count

And sure sometimes I did not know where it led

Perhaps to the deepest swamp there was

Stumbled, tricked, abandoned and trapped

Foolish not looking further, thinking deeper!

When I struggled out the first time

All dizzy and muddy and messy

I swore never to fall again

Less and less stepping into swamps and pitfalls

More and more walking on the steady lane

Oh so steady I slipped through it in a whirl

And I realize how much I miss the swamps

Next, next time I turn I may not remember

In every single turn I become fuller.

Original Poetry

Departure Is A Song by Robin Chan

Departure is a song
Too melancholy to sing
With so little you can carry along
It’s a melody bound to cling
To the weave of laughs and tears gone long
And countless things you wish you could bring
Nevertheless go along
And fly high with your spread wings
Up to the mightiest you long
To springs where your heart knows not to dry
And never, never stop
Not till you meet what you aspire
Then and only then
Come, come back with your own song

Warmth of An Embrace by Robin Chan

The clock stands still on the wall
Running the race that will never cease
Tick-tock tick tock on it saw
Counting hours and days I keep in discreet
I remember life as an endless maze
Where a way ends another emerges
And it leads you to yet another craze
Years I have strived with feelings submerged
Libraries of books desperately searched
For an answer to the question asked and asked
Should life be just one voyage, a search,
Alas, who cares how long it lasts!
Until one day you came with grace
And filled me with the warmth of an embrace

My First English Free-verse

Here is my first English free-verse as an official commencement of this new site:

I Wonder What Those Hours Would Gain – by Robin Chan

I wonder what those hours would gain,

Had I not been devouring those lines they drawn;

My heart delighted with friends and games,

mysteries unfolded with pages along;

Crystal clear it is that they claim,

Your time should be spent with plans;

Finish your worksheets about tense

They shall appear in exams.

Never mind your heart’s complaint,

Tame your passion all the same;

Success the prize you will gain,

Never will you be ashamed.

Well till one day when again,

I wonder what those hours would gain.
